With over 3.5 million weddings from all around the world, the website boasts an amazing record. It is currently the most widely used marriage website.

Anupam Mittal founded Shaadi.com in 1996 with the sole intention of improving the matching experience by expanding the pool of potential life partners.

Anupam Mittal - Overview

In India's e-commerce sector, Anupam Mittal, the founder and CEO of People Group, is currently among the most well-known individuals. Thanks to more than 40 investments in a range of interactive services (Shaadi.com, Ola cabs, Makaan.com, and Mauj mobile, among others), Mittal has seen his valuations increase tenfold in just the last few years alone. A reputable business publication has also named Mittal among the 50 most powerful people in the nation.

Anupam Mittal launched Shaadi.com with a creative idea that ultimately resulted in its enormous popularity. The birthdate of Anupam Mittal is December 23, 1971. He received his bachelor's degree from Boston. In addition, he holds a distinguished MBA in Strategic and Operations Management. Following his encounter with a marriage broker, he went on with the admirable plan to create a marriage-related website.

On the Indian version of the business reality television series Shark Tanks India, Anupam Mittal was a Shark (Judge). In the episode, he invested in numerous startups.

Anupam Mittal's Individual Life

Anupam Mittal's career and business have prospered throughout time. Anupam Mittal's track record is enhanced by his astute business strategies and strategic planning that paved the way for his rise to prominence and wealth.

Actress and model Aanchal Kumar was married to Anupam Mittal. Model-turned-actress Aanchal Kumar has made cameo appearances in movies including Bluffmaster and Fashion. She appeared in Bigg Boss's fourth season as well. She has won multiple awards for modeling.

Although Anupam Mittal's wife is well-known in the film industry, nothing is known about her work in her biography. She dated Anupam Mittal for a while before getting married in 2013.

How Did Anupam Mittal Found Shaadi.com?

Anupam finished his education and went back to India. With little else to do, he used to sit in his father's office and work on websites for other companies.

Simultaneously, he encountered one of those traditional matchmakers who will do everything it takes to get you married. He tried to pair Anupam with some of his clients in an effort to preserve his reputation. When the matchmaker was at the height of his powers, Anupam had a notion that would change his life forever.

And so, as he was trying to get rid of the matchmaker, Anupam thought to himself, what if there was a portal that could act as a virtual matchmaker for weddings? What if all the information these guys had was put up on the Internet for anyone to see, willing to marry? This would substantially simplify the process in addition to getting rid of any inefficiencies and geographic restrictions.

Consequently, Anupam released the first iteration of Sagaai.com carelessly in 1997. This was not so much a stable enterprise as it was an experiment at the time. Though he participated in the business as well, he did it more on the weekends and kept his job as his top priority. Because it was the source of income, he used all of the cash he had or had saved for the creation of the web module.

A fascinating series of events took place in 2000–2001 when the dot com bubble broke and the majority of the local businesses filed for bankruptcy. The company he was working for at the time, Micro Strategy, which had a pre-dot com crisis valuation of more than $50 billion, had likewise completely failed.

Anupam Mittal: The Opportunity Shift

At the same time, Anupam saw that many people in the US were hunting for life partners after coming across Shariah [SP].com. He saw the huge potential here and thought there was a substantial pain point that they could address!

After operating his website in India for over three years, he came to the conclusion that the nation still had a long way to go before becoming a respectable business and that internet penetration there was extremely low. Anupam decided to concentrate his efforts on the US market since India was losing out on the Internet.

Despite Shaadi.com's 1996 founding, the company didn't start concentrating on it and allocating all of its resources to it until the years 2000–2001. The notion of quitting work and going home also started to take root because the US stock market was about to crash. Anupam quit Micro Strategy in 2001 after giving it a lot of thought, went back to India, renamed Sagaai.com Shaadi.com, and completely refocused his efforts.

After he made his decision, he had to focus on a smaller group of people for his target market. It was during this process that he discovered there was a greater need for Shaadi.com among NRIs, or non-resident immigrants, from the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. These individuals were geographically separated from their home countries but still desired to marry within their respective communities, but were unable to find the right partner because they did not know where to look. Shaadi.com could be useful in this situation!
