He is an Indian-American businessman. Before becoming CEO, he was executive vice President of Microsoft's cloud and enterprise group, responsible for building and managing the company's computing platforms.

  • Birth: He was born in Hyderabad on August 19, 1967, into a Hindu household that spoke Telugu. His father, Bukkapuram Nadella Yugandhar, was an Indian Administrative Service officer from the 1962 batch, while his mother, Prabhavati, was a Sanskrit lecturer.
  • Qualification: Begumpet's Hyderabad Public School was Satya's primary school. Later, in 1988, he studied for a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering at the Manipal Institute of Technology in Karnataka. Later, he pursued higher education overseas. In 1990, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee awarded him an M.S. in computer science. The University of Chicago Booth School of Business offered him an MBA in 1997 as well.
  • Marriage life: Nadella got married Anupama, his dad's IAS batchmate's daughter, in 1992. Anupama and Nadella are the sole offspring of their respective parents. While pursuing a B.Arch in the Faculty of Architecture at Manipal, she was his junior. The couple's children were a son and two daughters.

About his successful life:

Early in his career as a professional, Satya Nadella worked for Sun Microsystems as an employee of the technical team. He became a Microsoft employee in 1992. He was involved in Windows NT research at first.

 

Journey in Microsoft from 1992 to 2014:

 

Leading the company's transition to cloud computing and creating one of the largest cloud infrastructures globally were among the significant undertakings Nadella oversaw at Microsoft.

Senior vice-president of research and development (R&D) for the Online Services Division and vice-president of the Microsoft Business Division were among Nadella's positions. Afterward, he was appointed president of Microsoft's $19 billion Server and Tools Business, where he managed the shift from client services to cloud infrastructure and services within the organization's business and technological culture. Microsoft's database, Windows Server, and development tools were made available on the Azure cloud with his help. Since he became over in 2011, earnings via Cloud Services increased to $20.3 billion in the year June 2013. His salary for 2016 was $84.5 million.

Nadella supposedly made $669,167 as his base pay in 2013. Around $7.6 million was paid out in total, including stock bonuses.

 

He worked in many positions like president of server, tools divisions and many more.

After Steve Ballmer and Bill Gates, Nadella was named Microsoft's CEO on February 4, 2014.

Attending a Women in Computing event in October 2014, Nadella pursued trouble by saying that women ought to believe the technology rather than seek about raises. After receiving backlash for the remarks, Nadella issued an apology on Twitter. After that, he acknowledged in an email to Microsoft staff that he was "Completely wrong."

Since2014, the price of Microsoft shares has nearly tripled under Satya Nadella. Shortly after Satya Nadella took over as CEO, Microsoft paid 2.5 billion dollars to acquire Mojang, the firm best known for the Minecraft video game. For a record-breaking 70 billion dollars, Microsoft also acquired businesses like Activision Blizzard, Xamarin, and LinkedIn. In order to support key services like Xbox Office 365 and Bing, Microsoft has also expanded its infrastructure and computing platform. He serves on the boards of several companies, including Starbucks and the University of Chicago, despite being employed by Microsoft.

 

In addition to winning business person of the year from Fortune Magazine and Times Magazine, Satya Nadella has won numerous other accolades. The Government of India also granted him the third-highest civilian honour in India, the Padma Bhushan, in 2022.

Prior to Satya Nadella taking over as CEO, Microsoft's primary sources of income were office memberships and Windows-based gadgets. However, since joining the company, he has also grown revenue from the cloud. According to Satya Nadella, Microsoft cloud organizations have the potential to achieve even greater success.
